Hi all, just thought I'd introduce myself, I'm Dave from the UK. I have a business that publishes and sells musicals to schools. We've been producing choreography DVDs of the dance moves for the show that kids can copy. This is a great product that our customers love but it's timely and costly to produce. We've been looking for a way to speed up the production as cost effectively as possible.
We've built a proof of concept app in Unity using motion capture from Xbox Kinect V2s. This has worked OK but we're looking for better tracking, especially with full body rotations.
We've been looking at Neuron Perception and Xsens with a view to possibly purchasing either system should our proof of concept be well received with our panel of testers.
But then, we found Chordata.
I'm an avid electronics hobbyist having built freestyle FPV quadcopters, my reprap 3D printer, electric skateboards, arcade cabinets, home automation systems and much more. This is looking like something I'm going to enjoy putting together. I much prefer going down the Open Source route if it's ever a possibility. Being able to repair equipment quickly and easily is the best. Not to mention the incredible support of the community.
I've just ordered the majority of the parts needed from Mouser and the PCBs from JLCPCB.
I do have a couple of questions and I'll be very grateful for any info...
How does this system cope with magnetic disturbances? I know that's been an issue with the Neuron Perception kit.
How is foot to floor stability in the output animation?
Some of our dances have person to person interaction. I'm assuming tracking of two suits is possible? Even if it means recording data to two computers, that would be fine.
