Second Beta-testing program!

We’re very excited to inform that we’re preparing a second Beta-testing Program!!! You have asked for it so many times, that we decided it’s needed in order to honor your support. This will be the second Beta-testing program we do before our official product launch. If everything goes as planned, Chordata suits will be available through our online store in the first quarter of 2020!

In the next few weeks, we’ll publish the program bases, so you can know all the requirements to participate.

We can only offer 20 vacants, so don’t miss it!

Even so, we want to be able to attend every single request, as all your emails and support messages are the real value of this project. Chordata is made for you and by you. This is the reason why those of you who have shown interest in this Beta-testing program and aren’t choosen to participate, will have a special discount when we officially launch Chordata in early 2020.

Interested in being a beta tester for this. Just annoyed that the software cost for a Moven suit is more than the hardware and both are way too expensive.
I can offer to create a couple of game engine plugins for making the suit work with Unreal Engine and Unity if that helps (I'm the programme leader for a game programming degree here in the UK).
Very much interested in getting a high quality inertial setup off the ground that I can make a number of for my students to use. We do have maker facilities at the Uni and a bunch of engaged students to work on things if you guys are interested.

BTW: Can anyone give me a rough costing for the BOM for the setup?

You can find a couple versions of the BOM here. They both contain the same components, but one has consolidated the parts into just two vendors. Scroll down to the 'Getting the Components' part of the page near the top.

I hope to use the suit to import the data into other programs that control animatronics, making them mimic my movements. These are life-sized animatronic robots, not virtual images. I also work with people who are researchers who want to use these to measure movements of the human body under various stressful situations, like running, rock climbing, and biking. All situations where you can't get real measurements in a studio with cameras and markers on suits.

just like HalloweenBob i want to use the mocap with scripts to drive human-like, soft skin, robots. I am a system engineer so this is the kind of project i like. The problem right now is walking, even standing. By 2050 some people in the movie industry think there a need for synthetic humans. Animatronics is the first part without wires and human controllers.

I have a couple of open source robots like Moov and a soft skin robot but i have to save my money to buy the parts and they cant stand up. I should get a muscle builder course because a dead weight of over 80 lbs is more than i can handle; i cant even move my cat. Disney has produced a stuntronics robot which is amazing:

I'm really interested in getting motion capture into the hands of a wider audience. I'm an AI researcher into movement and its perception in creative fields (mainly games and VR). I've noticed that most of the suits are not really useful for a variety of reasons, usually price. Having cheap, reliable motion capture hardware that is ubiquitous will change many industries I think.

For my part, I mostly work on games technology. So my initial drive will be setting up a variety of live-streaming protocols for game engines. But beyond that, I want to focus on improving stability and usability. I also want to ensure that we can improve and fix the hardware by having a solid community of both software and hardware people playing with the kit.

I was reading last night about Rokoko. I like the suit although some videos had some problems that would have to be cleaned up with filters. Also they had a fast movement part and Chordata all the moves are slow to medium. Since i2c can handle 1024 devices, its a slow protocol so i wonder how many devices it can really handle. The XnaLara format show a lot more than 17 or 19 bone movements but some of those are clothing parts and hair parts. Second Life has over 132 bones )? but mostly in the face. In Makehuman it think the highest bone count is 163. My own bones count is 600 -- the bones that are used in films.

I know that this is not a subject for this thread, but maybe we need some more categories so we can deal with applications such as Unity and UE4, Animatronics, Robotic, and Softskin Robotics and AI.

But i still need to learn more about Chordata. I am not interesting in testing, but i would like to the limits and extensions

I suggest you to review some of your numbers.

It's truth that the i2c bus supports 10bit addressing mode, but the normal 7bit address mode is more commonly used. It supports up to 127 devices (minus some reserved ones). I'm not aware of an IMU sensor using 10bit addressing.

A normal full body capture uses around 15-20 devices (excluding fingers and so). When you talk about bone counts >100 you are probably referring to animation armatures, on which many bones are used to control complex interactions between other bones, and are not real deforming ones. They have nothing to do with mocap, at least no with inertial mocap. As an exercise: take the dimensions of the smallest mocap node available in the market (around 2,5x2,5 cm), cut 100 pieces of paper of that size, and try to place them over your body (in relevant places) 🙂

daylanKifky yes 600 bones are for movie animation. i like the idea of 2 5.5x2.5 cm (or 0.99 in x 0.99 in). That a little large but remember in the future 2.5 cm is going to be a heavy mainframe. and yes i was think of a web suit. Where are the nano machines?
