Hi Flonk!
FlonkDonk -About the plugin in blender, do you plan to provide perpetual updates?
As you might know the chordata framework has the ability to talk with different clients. The Blender add-on is the first one of those, and the idea is to keep it as the "official chordata client". So yes, that add-on will keep growing with the rest of the system.
FlonkDonk What is the approximate distance the suit can go with wifi or computer connection?
The exact distance is hard to tell since it depends on many factors:
- The wifi infrastructure that you are using (dedicated router or raspberry as access point; 5GHz or 2.4Ghz)
- The environment (are there any obstacles like walls btw the suit and the computer?). As rule of thumb under good conditions the 2.4 GHz band can reach up to 46 m indoors and 92 m outdoors.
FlonkDonk If there is some noise reduction or a way in Blender to <<ButterWorth>> the animation curves? (Cleaning the motion Data)
What we love about having a client as Blender add-on is that we get all it's great animation editing capabilities for free right next to the capture environment. For example you can smooth any animation with the command Smooth Keys
But keep in mind that if you plan to use the capture data in an offline animation there would probably be the need of some manual retouching. And that applies to chordata, or any other mocap system.
FlonkDonk Will it be possible to run more than one suit in a scene? That could be cool for exmaple, a fighting scene
It is possible but there are some limitations: First of all you would have to run two separate clients (if there's some interest in the future we can think on implementing multi-capture in a single client, but at the moment is not on the roadmap).
And keep in mind that when working with inertial capture the translation in space is always an indirect and relative feature. Which means that you might get some offset on the actual position that might increase with the time of capture. On the beta version of our software that feature is not even implemented, we are at the moment concentrating on getting the inner pose capture as accurate as possible and a smoother user experience.
