Etcher / Flashing SD Card

Hello, After I installed Etcher on my laptop, it was no longer able to read any USB ports or the memory card drive. I restarted it and it failed to restart. I was able to restore it to a previous version pre- Etcher installation, but now I am hesitant to re-install it. Has anyone else had issues with Etcher, and are there any other alternatives that are as simple as the Etcher interface for flashing the SD card? I am new to this, so I was hesitant to follow the custom installation instructions on the wiki.

In my experience Etcher has never given this type of problem. Perhaps you can ask on Balena's forum

There are alternatives of course, I normally use the command line tool dd. Otherwise there's a new tool by the raspberry foundation which works in a similar way than Etcher (I have never tried it, but it looks good).
