thank you a lot for your work! big job.

We are a saddlemakers and because tools we use to do it (pressure sensors, 3d acquisition,etc) now we are starting a new project with disability riders. The vision towards biomechanics.

So a good mocap is a must, and here comes Chordata! thanks again.

As I read in all docs (but didn't dig in the code) I understand that:

-can import to OpenSim (or THsim)
-can create/edit new skeletons, as a horse
-can work as BVH

isn't it?

so saddles, horses, disability holders, several sensors and mocap!? your project(s) sound like really interesting. Can't wait to see what you will do.

Your assumptions are correct.

Chordata can work with any shape of armature
The protocol in which it transmits the pose data is non obfuscated and as simple as it can get. So clients to work with the real time capture can be written in any environment that is capable of working with 3D.
You can record the capture using the Blender add-on and export it in several formats including BVH

I don't know exactly what want to do with OpenSim. If it is applying the capture in real time to a skeleton then you would have to write a piece of code to handle it. Is not a hard task but it is still not documented well. Basically is something that stays listening on a socket, and applies the rotation of each sensor to the corresponding bone as soon as it arrives.

If instead you want to use pre-recorded animations (with bvh as a transport format), then the blender add-on has everything you need.

pressure and mocap must serves as a reader for the rider in order to modify/adjust body patterns. In other words, imagine that your phisical pressions ride (and control) the horse, that is. No reins, no spurs, even no saddle.

On the other hand there is a pearson (the rider) who can get any... disability (well, that's the "usual" used word to define it, but I'm not sure about the meaning of it and I don't like to use it, but that's another question). Anyway, we must read how he/she is developing the aptitudes, and moreover, how to act to perform any action to the horse, that's why use Opensim. We can work all this data "offline", but the best is on real time as you can see directly what it happens.
